Career Opportunities Available
The Project Implementation Unit (PIU) is hiring experienced professionals to support the implementation of the Karachi Water & Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP-II), which is financed through the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), and the Government of Sindh.

These positions are intended for highly qualified professionals with relevant technical expertise, infrastructure project experience, and familiarity with international development partner projects.
What Makes These Positions Different?
Unlike routine government recruitment, these vacancies are consultancy-based assignments under an internationally funded infrastructure project. Candidates having previous experience with organizations such as the World Bank, AIIB, ADB, JICA, or other multilateral development institutions will have a significant advantage during the selection process.
Knowledge of FIDIC contracts, procurement regulations, engineering supervision, structural analysis, social safeguard implementation, and contract administration is particularly valuable for these roles.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants should possess one of the following qualifications depending on the position:
- Bachelor’s Degree (16 Years Education)
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical)
- BS Degree in a relevant discipline
- Master’s Degree
- MSc
- Master’s in Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Sociology, Development Studies, Urban Studies, Anthropology, Law, or another relevant field.
All degrees must be obtained from HEC-recognized universities or internationally recognized institutions.
Experience Requirements
The required professional experience varies according to the advertised post.
Candidates should generally have:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience for Technical & Engineering Associate positions.
- Minimum 10 years of experience for senior consultant positions such as Manager Procurement/Contracts, Senior Social Development Specialist, and Technical & Engineering Specialist (Structure).
- Practical experience in:
- Major civil infrastructure projects
- Procurement and contract management
- Structural design and analysis
- Construction supervision
- Community engagement and social safeguards
- Resettlement planning
- Preparation of technical specifications and bidding documents
- World Bank or Multilateral Development Bank funded projects
Professional engineering registration is mandatory wherever specified.
Selection Procedure
Consultants will be selected under the World Bank Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers (Revised Fifth Edition – September 2023) using the Open Competitive Selection of Individual Consultants procedure.
